The Electronics Component Industry Association (ECIA) has standardized 2D barcode label formats for products, shipments, and packing slips. 2D barcoding will improve product handling by decreasing receiving errors, reducing time from dock to stock, and in turn avoid delays in payment. ECIA has partnered with Bar Code Graphics, Inc. to administer standardized 2D barcode labeling certification for the industry. The top industry distributors recognize the importance of this initiative and have jointly adopted standardized 2D barcode label formats plus a centralized certification process to facilitate easier implementation by suppliers.
